by Lance Frodsham
Traditional English folk music
is presented here arranged for the mountain dulcimer. These selections
depict the trials and tribulations of everyday life, including:
courtship, marriage, work, crime, lost love, changing of seasons, songs
of children, songs of sailors and old ballads. When applicable the
author has indicated which tunes are Child Ballads, that is, derived
from the well-known collection of ballads published by Francis James
Child between 1882 and 1898. All selections are written in standard
notation and dulcimer tablature with chord symbols. Explanations of the
notation and tablature systems are included. Each tune is presented with
complete lyrics as well as historical notes. The tunings used include
DAD, CGC, DCA, DAG, and DGD, CFC. Some of the tunes require and 6+ fret.
Includes access to online audio containing 15 of the songs featured in
the book.
