The Sonata in G Major was composed in one single movement and displays
Liste's fondness for experiments in form. The composition is transparent
and light in style, yet does not lack suspense due to frequent use of
contrasts. The expressive use of dynamic contrasts throws light onto the
emotional part of the composer's personality, who found his second home
in Zurich. The work was issued in 1804 as part of the series
'Repertoire des Clavicinistes' by the editor Hans Georg Nageli, who was
Liste's patron in that particular period. Not only does it represent a
special piece of Swiss music history, but invites rediscovery of its
unique composer.
