    By Ramon Amira
Classical Guitar Technique is a revolutionary new method book, specifically designed for students to teach themselves how to play classical guitar. The author, noted classical guitarist and teacher Ramon Amira, has designed an extremely user-friendly step-by-step method that guides a student through all phases of basic classical guitar technique, using detailed and easy to understand language that simulates the way he gives instruction to his students in person.

No prior knowledge of guitar or music is necessary, as the method starts with the beginner basics and proceeds in a carefully planned progression from beginner to intermediate player. All instruction is accompanied by large photos to illustrate the various positions and techniques.

The book includes a generous number of pieces by famous composers for classical guitar: Sor, Giuliani, Carulli, Purcell, Sanz, Aguado. Detailed Study Notes for all pieces are on a left hand page facing the music on a right hand page, so the student can easily refer to the Study Notes as he or she is learning a new piece. All titled pieces have been recorded and can be heard online. All music is written in standard notation, so a student learns both technique and how to read music at the same time. The book is designed to bring a student to an intermediate playing level.

Ramon Amira started playing the guitar at the age of fifteen, then studied classical guitar with Juan de la Mata, and flamenco guitar and dance accompaniment with the great virtuoso Mario Escudero. He continued his classical and flamenco guitar studies in Los Angeles with Vicente Gomez. While living in Los Angeles he was the classical and flamenco guitar critic for the Los Angeles Times, and the flamenco guitar and dance critic for the L.A. Herald-Examiner, and has reviewed Andres Segovia, John Williams, Julian Bream, Christopher Parkening, Pepe Romero, Carlos Montoya, Sabicas, Manitas de Plata, and many others. He has given numerous classical and flamenco guitar recitals and lecture demonstrations. He currently performs in the New York area as a classical and flamenco guitarist, and is a prominent teacher of guitar.
